LAKELAND – Bobby L. Grimes, age 74, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on November 24, 1932, he was a third-generation lifelong resident of Lakeland. He attended local schools and graduated from Kathleen High School, class of 1951. He was a general foreman for CSX Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted member of the Kathleen Area Historical Society, volunteering many hours on their behalf.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Johnnie Mae Grimes. He is survived by his loving wife Elaine; children, Gary (Susan) Grimes, Keith (Pam) Grimes, Cheryl (Jeff) Schwartz, Alisa (Ira) Anderson, Mona (Jon) Burtz, and Curtis (Eileen) Holzschuh; brothers Clinton Grimes and Jimmy (Rosemarie) Grimes; mother-in-law Emilie Evans; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 3-5 p.m. at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel with a service to follow.
